A bookmark spends its life inside a closed book, which makes thickness the specification that matters and the one nobody publishes. Too thick and it wedges the pages apart, splays the spine and eventually cracks the binding; too thin and it creases the first time the book is shut on it.

We quote the board in microns rather than describing it as premium or luxury, and we will tell you which weight suits a paperback and which suits a hardback library edition. It is a genuine difference and it costs nothing to get right.
