A bookmark ruler is the other version of the same idea: give it a second job and it survives the desk drawer. The measuring edge has to be printed accurately and calibrated against the finished cut, not the artwork, because trimming moves it by a millimetre or two and a ruler that is wrong is worse than no ruler.

Both work best on a slightly heavier board, since shaped cuts and long thin rulers are weaker across the narrow points. We will flag any artwork with a neck too thin to survive being pulled out of a book.
